Captain George's view is that Crocs are similar to flipflops but with enclosed toes. In his opinion they do not have very good grip, get slippy when wet, and if they haven't got the backstrap on (which seems to be the way most people wear them) you can actually slip out of them when they are wet or you are sweaty.
